Madonna & Me: Director's Update

So Madonna & Me is going really well!  We have completely blocked the show!  Whoo hoo!  Blocking is my least favorite part of the rehearsal process.  Now that the blocking is complete we can get into, as Dustin called it yesterday, "the meat and potatoes" of the script.  That is where my fun begins of working with the actors' ideas of who and what their characters are and are about and blend them with what I see and where I want to take them.  That is the beauty of the directing process.  As an actor, I love when I get to make choices and that it isn't all the director's way or no-way!  Theatre is about collaboration and I love being able to say to an actor sometimes, "You know I really like what you did more than what I was thinking.  Keep it!"  So, Tuesday evening marks our first working rehearsal!  Can't wait!
Also, I am very excited that the playwright, Tommy Kearkey, will be joining us for the premiere!  No pressure right?  : )

Madonna & Me's Drew Grey... Our Jock Joe!

Drew is brand new to The Edge Stage, and the stage in general!  We are delighted to have him joining our team!  Drew loves sports and women much like Joe, but Drew is a quite a bit more intelligent than the role he is playing!

Madonna & Me's Maggie Monahan... Our Scorned Lover

Maggie has been a part of our company since the beginning.  She was seen in our debut production of Tick Tick Boom!, the world premiere of Geography Club, and Bare: A Pop Opera!  We are delighted to have her back on stage after touring the US and getting married!  We have missed you, Maggie!  Oh... and stop freaking out about the accent!

Madonna & Me's Dody Gaston... Torn Between Two Loves

Dody is nto as awkward and shy as she wants you to believe!  We are looking forward to her sexy dance to Justify My Love during the show!  She was last seen on The Edge stage in Rocky Horror as a sexy dancing Phantom!  She has worked backstage on numerous other Edge shows as well!

Madonna & Me's Dustin Riccardo... Working Class Playboy

Dustin is no stranger to the stage.  He is most known for his improv work in the area and for his fabulous performance as Frank-n-Furter in The Edge's production of The Rocky Horror Show.

Madonna & Me's Haley Phillips as Paula... Our Local Madonna

Haley was last seen on The Edge stage as the tap dancing Columbia in The Rocky Horror Show!  She is currently very busy brushing up on all that is Madonna as to immerse herself in the queen of pop to bring out the best Paula this side of the Atlantic!

Madonna & Me's Jay Kistler as Lovable Best Friend Adam!

Jay has been an active member of our 2010-11 production season as Rocky in Rocky Horror and a part of our staged reading of The Mystery of Attraction!  Jay plays Adam in Madonna & Me.  Don't you want him to be your best friend too?

Madonna& Me's Mark: The Scottish Lover

Brandon DiMatteo plays Mark in the US Premiere of Madonna & Me.  He has been a part of many of The Edge's productions since the very first season and currently serves on the Board of Directors!  Here he is saying hello and being... well... just being Brandon.
